We are pleased to introduce you to Doctors Greg and Gwyn Mathis. They began the Brookwood Animal Clinic practice in Jackson, Georgia in 1994. Dr. Greg and Dr. Gwyn Mathis practice a unique form of quality veterinary medicine. Often spending well over an hour with clients who have special medical concerns. They set a high standard of care at Brookwood Animal Clinic, offering a very "open" and unique practice style to our clients. We were lucky to be joined by Dr. Mike Kelly in 2012 whose attention to detail and concern for our patients has been a great asset to our office in more ways than one.

See what the Jackson Progress-Argus newspaper has to say about Brookwood being voted Favorite Veterinarian of 2009:

"Brookwood, a full service veterinary facility...has grown into a clinic that is home to great doctors and an excellent support staff, serving Butts, Henry, Jasper, Spalding, Lamar, Monroe and all surrounding areas. Brookwood has several services for your pet including physical examinations and vaccinations; complete medical and surgical care; pet nutritional counseling; boarding (Doggy Day Care); dental care; ultrasound, endoscopy and videoscope procedures; EKG and blood pressure monitoring; clinical lab testing (blood chemistries and counts); radiology (x-rays); pharmacy products; diabetes and glaucoma screening.

Encouraging pet parents with a hospitalized pet to visit their babies often. In some case being present during procedures. Dr. Greg says " I want our clients to know what goes on behind the exam room doors."

The doctors have also opened up their practice to the public, offering special tours that include individual, civic group and home school students.

Dr. Greg Mathis is a graduate of the University of Georgia Veterinary School. His expertise includes surgery and chronic ear disease. Dr. Mathis participates in lectures often, helping other practices gain better knowledge of veterinary practices and procedures.

Dr. Mathis was one of the first to introduce the three-year vaccine protocol in Georgia. Dr. Mathis recently donated a microchip scanner to the Butts County Animal Control, so they could scan lost animals and possible return them to their owners. Dr. Mathis’ special interests outside the clinic include reading, caving and repelling.

Dr. Gwyn Mathis attended the University of Georgia for both her undergraduate and graduate work receiving a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1987. She has a special interest in radiology, specifically ultrasound procedures.

Dr. Gwyn sponsors a job shadowing project with the Health Care Science class at Jackson High School. She is also a frequent lecturer at career day in the local schools. Dr. Gwyn's special interests include caving, crochet, knitting, running, and reading. Born and raised in Georgia, Dr. Gwyn married Dr. Greg in 1985. They have two daughters, Rachel and Georgia.

Dr. Mike Kelly earned his B.S. in Biology from Georgia State University and a 2005 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a native of Georgia. His family includes his wife Linda, daughters Abby and Hayden, and dogs Rita, Stella, and Roxy and Grant the cat.

In his spare time, he is an avid golfer and enjoys boating, fishing and playing backgammon.

Shaquana is one of the newest Vet Assistants here at Brookwood Animal Clinic. She started cross-training in August 2017, although she is new she feels like she has been apart of this staff/family for a long time. She loves animals and which is why she wants to go to college to be a Veterinarian and major in Animal Science.
